LOVING OUR NEIGHBOR
Outreach is our parish response to meet real human needs. We do this through providing financial support to local agencies that address food and housing insecurity, as well as organizing opportunities for shared service and education.
FAMILY PROMISE
THRICE ANNUALLY
St. Tim’s is proud to partner with this national nonprofit to provide shelter, meals and supportive services to assist unhoused families in recovering their financial stability and returning to permanent housing. Three times per year, we welcome 4-5 families for two week stays in our building. Preparing meals, tutoring children, providing transportation and overnight hosting are just a few ways we care for our neighbors. Learn more about them here.
ST. FRANCIS CENTER
3RD SATURDAYS AT 7:15 AM OFF CAMPUS
An Episcopal ministry to urban unhoused adults, members of St. Tim’s volunteer at this Denver day center on the third Saturday of each month. Face-to-face tasks for volunteers at the day center include mail distribution, showers, storage, a clothing room and cell phone charging. Also available are work options (such as laundry and sorting donations) that don’t involve face-to-face interaction with guests. Other services provided at the SFC include employment assistance, housing and outreach to people living on the streets. Learn more about them here.
INTEGRATED FAMILY COMMUNITY SERVICES
5TH WEDNESDAYS OFF CAMPUS
This agency partners with the community to alleviate hunger and provides assistance with rent and utility bill payment. St. Tim’s holds periodic financial support/food drives to help feed the hungry in the south metro area. On the fifth Wednesday of the month, members of St. Tim’s volunteer at the IFCS market. The market is a free grocery store allowing people with low or no income to shop for their basic needs. Learn more about them here.
SPONSORSHIP OF AFGHAN REFUGEE FAMILIES
ONGOING
In 2021, St. Tim’s committed to sponsor two refugee families from Afghanistan who faced Taliban threats due to their work to help women and children and their connections to international media. St. Tim’s has funded the necessary Humanitarian Parole application fees and has supported them in their journey (financial help with housing and food) until they are connected to refuge support programs in Colorado. The two families remain in Pakistan and Germany, as the process of obtaining approval to come to the United States is slow.
HAAT FORCE
ONGOING
St. Tim’s provides financial and hands-on support to the Homelessness Awareness and Action Task Force South Metro. The HAAT Force provides severe weather shelter and resources for families and people with disabilities experiencing homelessness. Learn more about them here.
LOCALLY HAITI
ONGOING
St. Tim’s provides financial support to Locally Haiti, which invests in locally led initiatives in Petit Trou de Nippes. Programs are integrated across the sectors of education, agriculture, community health and girls’ empowerment. Learn more about them here or take a look at this short video.
NOURISH MEALS ON WHEELS
ONGOING
Starting in November of 2023, St. Tim’s is entering into a partnership with this agency which delivers hot, ready to eat nutritious meals to 525 seniors in our neighborhood each weekday. We intend to provide financial support as well as holiday gift bags and a tour of the Nourish facility for interested parish members. Mary’s Cards (an alternative Christmas giving opportunity) will benefit Nourish this year. Learn more about Nourish here.
